Welcome to the Healthcare Disparities Series: The Socioeconomic Side of Rheumatology Care: Determinants and Inequities followed by a COVID-19 Update from Dr Cassandra Calabrese on Insights and Lessons from COVID-19. What we know now!

There are a variety of intersectional factors and social determinants of health that contribute to disparities in rheumatology care. Understanding them is the first step in finding solutions to overcome these issues. In this virtual meeting, experts in rheumatology care and leaders in health equity will explore the various factors contributing to racial, ethnic, and gender disparities in RA, psoriatic disease, axSpA, and Lupus Nephritis such as:
-Lack of diversity in clinical trials
-Increased susceptibility to disease
-Access to medical insurance
-The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic

This opening session on AWIR Healthcare Disparities is part of a 5 part series of 2.0 CEUs programs presented at each AWIR Summit from June - December 2021, where we will explore:

1) The Socioeconomic Side of Rheumatology Care: Determinants and Inequities,
2) Discerning Clinical & Cultural Differences in Rheumatology,
3) How Comorbidities Contribute to Health Inequities in Rheumatology,
4) Tailoring Shared Decision-Making for Diverse Rheumatology Patients
5) Bridging the Gap in Access to Rheumatology care.

Registration for the AWIR Summit is required and Attendees can earn up to 3.0 CEUs. Rheumatologists will have an opportunity to attend other Educational Symposia, share best practices, and network with peers!
